Job Summary Manage and supervise general Right of Way (ROW) clearing activities, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), installations and permit adherence, and transmission line construction activities in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes and industry standards. Plan and coordinate the efforts of the subcontractors under his/her supervision and motivate them to accomplish the work safely, correctly and efficiently.Key Responsibilities . Have a strong working knowledge of the principal duties and accountabilities of subcontractors under his/her supervision . Lead and support all safety related processes and programs as requested Engage with your work team to ensure we achieve zero injuries No job is so important that your safety and that of your crew will be compromised . Watch for hazards and report any concerns to your supervisor or safety professional If needed, use your stop work authority until the issue is resolved . Be proficient in scheduling, material control, unit man-hour performance, estimating fundamentals, and job cost management in the Field Process Management System (FPMS) Communicate and coordinate with Project Controls to update the FPMS . Be able to create and execute a 4 week schedule and monitor the subcontractor's one week schedule . Monitor/plan subcontractor goals and proactively make changes necessary to keep project on track . Participate in incident investigations and report accidents and act to prevent future occurrences to project management and site safety Assist in leading the investigation process as needed and review accidents and the causes with subcontractors . Review, complete, and sign off on daily pre-job safety planning in the appropriate format Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or mitigate hazards Assure all subcontractors members understand, participate, and sign all pre-job safety planning tools at start and end of shift . Understand and respond appropriately to all safety hazards and warning devices (i e back-up alarms, smell of smoke, different colored warning tags, warning sirens) . Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment . Use effective verbal and written communication skills Add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and fractions rapidly and accurately . Listen to subcontractor and supervisor's suggestions, complaints, problems, safety concerns and recommendations, evaluate each and then devise and implement a plan of action based on that evaluation . Plan and communicate with subcontractor to assure that an adequate supply of tools, materials and equipment are available . Understand and periodically review project master schedule Prepare and monitor the progress of the work accomplished relative to the 3 week schedule . Gain a complete understanding of the scope of work and the related parts of the project Develop a thorough understanding of the project plans, specifications and schedule as they relate to that portion of the work assigned; review with subcontractor at start of and throughout the task Delegate and communicate safety concerns, work scope, plans, budgeted man-hours and schedules to the subcontractor . Monitor productivity rates and review with subcontractor Prepare daily reports completely and accurately . Assure subcontractor produce quality work, meeting requirements of plans, specifications and industry standards Ensure all Quality Control forms are available and being completed in a timely manner Review, approve and submit to engineering . Read and understand plans and specifications including Storm Water Pollution Plan (SWPP) documents, P and P's, pulling plans, grounding plans, etc . Inspect subcontractors work for compliance with the, contract plans, specifications, and industry standards Ensure that correct construction procedures are followed during installation Point out deficiencies, explain them, and take corrective action needed . Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measures that arise or that may be encountered Take corrective actions as needed . Ensure that construction equipment is correctly operated, maintained, in good working order, and Daily Equipment Inspections are completed for equipment being utilizedManagement Responsibilities Preferred Qualifications OSHA safety training 10 Hour or 30 Hours Computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc ) One or more of the following certifications: NCCER Power Line Work NCCER Rigger NCCER Fundamentals of Crew Leadership NCCER Project Supervision NCCER Project ManagementMinimum Qualifications Must have at least 8 years of experience working experience as a Lineman or higher and supervisor experience. Must have a strong working knowledge of the electrical craft and the National Electrical Code (NEC). Must have leadership abilities and organizational skills. Must set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality and productivity for subcontractors. Must be at least 18 years of age. Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds. Stand, Kneel, Bend, Stoop, Move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas, see and hear naturally or with correction. Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties. Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure. Requires repetitive movement. Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds. Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
Work Environment:
Typical construction site environment. Requires working in cramped work spaces and getting into awkward positions. Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc. Requires working in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions. Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable. Work around hazardous equipment. This position is considered a safety sensitive position.
