Scope:

The Shipping & Receiving Specialist is responsible for managing truck drivers as they arrive with inbound loads and truck drivers coming in for outbound loads. The Shipping & Receiving Specialist is also responsible for processing orders as they are picked as well as preparing shipping documents.  

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:

Promotes safety and conducts him/herself in accordance with all safety guidelines at all timesExamines contents and compares with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipmentPrepares documents, such as bills of lading, delivery notes/packing list, and or labelsReviews orders to ensure inventory is accurateEnters shipment data into ERP system, such as weight, charges, quote numbers, pallet countsManages appointments and daily schedules for outbound loads Updates all outbound orders with freight quotes, using various carriers’ websitesUses Excel spreadsheets to manage daily ordersPrepares some international shipping documentsPerforms general office duties, such as answering the phone, filing, etc. Checks inbound and outbound drivers in at check in windowGoes on to the floor as needed to help audit All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Must have a high school diploma or equivalentAt least 6 months of Shipping and Receiving experience or related experience preferredMust have ability to understand oral and written instructions in EnglishMust demonstrate attention to detail and a high degree of accuracyMust work well in a team environmentMust be able to work overtime as requiredMust have good job performance and attendance records

 

Physical Demands: 

Must be able to physically perform the functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions Must be able to work seated using a computer and phone for long periods of timeMust be able to work extended hours, such as daily overtime and an occasional weekend Must possess visual acuity to document company records Continuous walking throughout Plant and Distribution CenterLifting up to 40 pounds
