Your Responsibilities

 

As an Engineer Product II – Hydraulic Systems for John Deere in East Moline, IL, you will:

 

Plans, coordinates, performs product design, testing and/or analysis work for a complete project of moderate scope or for a significant portion or a sub-system of a major and diverse project. Operates in a team environment, providing input to design solutions and participating in design reviews. May assign, coordinate and review portions of the work to support personnel. Decisions are made within established guidelines and may be reviewed by supervisors. Contribute to the analysis of information and the specification of the methods and process steps, as well as the plant, machinery, and equipment, required to design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials processes and process systems to deliver the end product within specified cost and quality parameters. Contribute to the development of, and implement feasibility testing of, proposed engineering solutions to provide feedback and data to validate the design. Contribute to the analysis of information, the drafting of engineering standards and specifications, and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards within own engineering discipline to inform engineering work in the organization and/or of its suppliers, contractors, and consultants. Carry out inspections under the supervision of senior colleagues to evaluate the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures, and make recommendations to senior colleagues on the remedial works needed to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements. Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems, and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them. Deliver small- or medium-scale projects while working within an established program management plan. Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media. Create and maintain complex technical and/or user documentation to a high standard, and back up files to ensure instant recovery if problems occur. Work collaboratively with other professional teams and over organizational boundaries to ensure service users experience cohesive and seamless support to meet their needs. 35% international and domestic travel required. Must live within normal commuting distance of the worksite. 25% remote work allowed.

 

What Skills You Need

 

3 years of experience with electrohydraulic technology specification, design and system development including hydraulic schematics, hydraulic components (hydraulic integrated circuits, cylinders, motors, pumps, accumulators) and circuit design considerations with the use of mechatronics, controls or dynamic systems modeling 3 years of experience with hydraulic cutterbar float and lockout, crop harvesting front end equipment and combine system design, plus firsthand field experience with crop harvesting equipment, specifically crop harvesting draper headers and combine harvesters 3 years of experience with CREO CAD modeling software, Automation Studio system modeling software for hydraulic systems schematic creation and nCode - Software that processes measured data to perform durability analysis and manage data 3 years of experience in crop harvesting equipment testing, specifically crop harvesting draper headers and combine harvesters with firsthand experience working alongside Product Verification and Validation engineers and a fundamental understanding of test engineering processes and principles

 

Education/Experience

 

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or related field plus 3 years related experience.
