2025 Data for Good Hackathon - Data Science Analyst - Manhattan, New York

About the Program/Event 

Tech for Social Good at JPMorganChase is focused on building tech capacity for nonprofit organizations and increasing access to tech experiences for community members. By attending Data for Good, you will collaborate with our expert technologists to creatively address real-world technology challenges faced by nonprofit organizations, fostering innovation and impact.  This experience offers you the chance to network with fellow aspiring Data Scientists across the country and engage with our recruiting teams, providing insight into data focused roles at JPMorganChase.  Over two days (Friday – Saturday), you and your team will analyze large, social good data sets and derive insights for a leading nonprofit organization, with travel expenses covered under certain conditions.

 

Your participation in the Data for Good hackathon may also lead to an opportunity for you to learn more about and be a priority consideration for the 2026 Data Science Analyst Summer Program.

 

Please note, to be considered for internship opportunities, Data for Good participants will be required to participate in the standard hiring process, including additional interview steps. Additional information, including application details, to be provided to Data for Good participants.

Here is a description of the job summary and responsibilities of a Data Science Analyst Intern:

 

 

Job Summary

As a Summer Analyst in the Data & Analytics organization at JPMorganChase, you will deliver excellence at the intersection of data science, research, and business domain expertise. You will work on projects focusing on machine learning, business intelligence, data engineering, and visualization, combining your technical skills and understanding of the business context to collaboratively develop end-to-end solutions with commercial, real-world impact on our clients and customers.

 

Whether you’re working on projects that focus on machine learning, business intelligence, data engineering, and/or visualization, you will have the opportunity to combine your technical skills and understanding of the business context to collaboratively develop end-to-end solutions with commercial, real-world impact on our clients and customers. 

 

Our areas of focus include Big Data Analytics, Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, Natural Language Processing, Classical Machine Learning, Time Series, Automation, and Interpretability of results in relation to business objectives.

 

Our 10 Week Summer Internship Program begins in June. Your professional growth and development will be supported throughout the internship program via project work related to your professional interests, mentorship, engaging speaker series with senior leaders and more. Full-time employment offers may be extended upon successful completion of the program.

Event Expectations

Own projects end-to-end, ensuring teams and stakeholders are informed about development progress.

Collaborate and share ideas, information, and innovation with our global team of technologists.

Develop skills through ongoing training, mentorship, and access to senior leaders.

Share data-driven recommendations and insights that impact our stakeholders.

Work on agile teams alongside peers and experienced Quant Developers.

 

 

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

Pursuing a Bachelor’s or 1-Year Master’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) or related major with rigorous analytical coursework with an expected graduation between December 2026 through August 2027.

Foundational knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Java, C++, C#), databases, data structures and algorithms.

 

 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

Knowledge of machine learning / data science theory, techniques and tools and experience working with large disparate data sets.

Experience in mathematics and statistics modelling.

Awareness of standard analytical tech stacks (Jupyter Notebooks, AWS, Spark, PyTorch, R, etc.).

Strong communication skills and the ability to present findings in an understandable manner to a non-technical audience.
