What You’ll Do:

As a Raw Stock Operator, you’ll be part of our team located in East Longmeadow, MA. You’ll get to:

Check coil tags at each operation to assure proper information and coil identity. At each straightening operation, load coil on to pay-off reel and through rolling mill and/or straightener. Make necessary adjustments to achieve dimensional standards of thickness and width. Check for concavity, wedge, lamination, rust, other defects. At raw stock straighter, operate resistance butt welder to weld end of preceding coil to new coil. Anneal welded area and remove flash from sides and back using abrasive wheel. Fill Take Up reel to predetermined mark and confirm diameter with fixed gauge. Cut band with hand cutter and apply filament tape to completed coil.

Use overhead hoist to place racks of bi- metal coils into floor level annealing. Input required data into programmed controller. Operation is automatic; furnace cycles and shuts off automatically. Monitor operation by means of temperature recording charts. Use hoist to unload and use Rockwell Tester for hardness checks. Between loads, check furnace for broken elements, damaged seals, insulation, etc. Observe color and brightness of annealed stock.

Load coils of annealed stock on pay off reel at bi-metal straightener or Roll Mill and Bruderer Line. Thread material through processing equipment including ultrasonic inspection station. Select proper spacers, guides and rollers and make necessary adjustments to obtain required thickness and/or straightness. When defect shuts off machine, view with microscope and mark with hand or hydraulic punch. Cut out large defects and form new coil as required. Cut sample strip and use indicators, straight edge to check straightness, bow, twist, etc. Maintain required production records.

Use chopper to dispose of scrap materials. Grease machines and maintain oil levels with proper oils; change oil and filters, tester transducers as required.

Detect and report unsafe or defective equipment or material, unusual situations to the supervisor. Maintain area and equipment in a neat and orderly manner. Observe and obey all safety rules, regulations and practices.
