Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Fabricator operates fabricating machines to create structural steel products used in industrial automation.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Operating fabrication shop and machine shop machinery and equipment, such as cutoff saws, shears, rolls, brakes, presses, forming machines, spinning machines, and punches, to cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structuresReading job specifications and blueprints to determine machine adjustments and material requirementsSetting stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or templatePositioning workpiece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or bladeMeasures workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operationDetects workpiece defects and machine malfunctionsRemoves burrs, sharp edges, rust, and scale from workpiecePerforms minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, die, or workpiecesEmployees are responsible for complying with all requirements of Daifuku’s QMS policies and procedures. Employees are to ensure sustainable process outputs that drive continuous improvement to provide leading industry performance and exceptional customer satisfaction.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent preferredMinimum 1 year of related experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:

Ability to read blueprintsKnowledge of standard and metric measurementsKnowledge of quality assurance and self-inspection techniquesSelf-motivated and detail-orientedTeam orientationLOTO certification requiredCrane operation certification requiredForklift operation experience preferred but not requiredAvailability to work on Saturdays as needed

ADA Requirements:

Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm. Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.Visual: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

 

Job Conditions:

The worker is subject to: inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.The worker is subject to: hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
