Job Description:  The Groundskeeping Lead position is a career opportunity at Tyson Foods, Incorporated.  This position requires proficiency in multiple skill clusters including Horticulture, application of pesticides and herbicides, basic lawn and garden equipment maintenance and organizing schedules.  The Groundskeeping Lead is responsible for maintaining grounds equipment while ensuring the safest work environment possible. Applicant will be required to operate vehicles or powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snow blowers, chainsaws, electric clippers, or pruning saws.  You will also drive trucks or other vehicles to or at work sites. Must be able to direct team in most efficient manner to complete normal job assignments and special tasks.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to outside weather conditions, hot and cold and noisy equipment. Other job duties as assigned.

Pay: $20.75

The days/ hours for this position:  Monday – Friday 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. with periodic weekend work as needed. There may be times when they will be required to start early due to winter weather.

REQUIREMENTS: 

Education:  High school Diploma or equivalent.   Must acquire DOT certification within 90 days of hire date.  If not already certified, applicant must be willing to attain appropriate applicators license.

Experience:   3+ years’ experience in grounds keeping, horticulture lawn maintenance or landscaping field listed in application.

Computer Skills:   Familiar with Microsoft Office Applications. 

Communication Skills:   High level oral communications, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.  Must have the ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with other team members, all levels of management in other departments as well as Executive Leadership.

Special Skills:   Understand troubleshooting and operation of lawn and garden equipment.  Understand basic mechanical skills and troubleshooting techniques.  Understand basic horticulture and landscaping practices.  Applicant must understand irrigation systems, including winterizing the systems and starting them up in spring.  You must be able to display sound judgment, leadership, organizational skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Supervisory:   This is a non- supervisory position which reports directly to Associate Facilities Manager.

Travel:  1-2 trips annually.
