09 - Senior Lead Engineer, Manufacturing Process
Req ID: 127214 Region: Americas Country: United States State/Province: Texas City: Richardson **General Overview** **Summary** The Senior Lead Engineer, Manufacturing Process will work closely with cross-functional design team to provide DFA support across NPI phases and will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying and optimizing processes for manufacturing to achieve quality cost and delivery goals for Celestica and its customers products. **Detailed Description** Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following: + Act as the primary New Product Introduction (NPI) technical liaison, bridging communication directly with the customer to ensure seamless integration and alignment of technical requirements throughout the project lifecycle. + Proactively analyze CAD models to generate comprehensive Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reports, delivering critical early feedback to optimize product development for efficient production. + Provide direct and continuous DFA support across all critical factory build phases, including mockup, Engineering Validation Test (EVT), and Design Validation Test (DVT), ensuring manufacturability at every stage. + Strategically oversee and optimize material handling solutions, collaborating extensively with both internal cross-functional teams and external suppliers to enhance logistical efficiency. + Design and develop essential tools and fixtures, specifically engineered to streamline assembly processes, improve ergonomics, and ensure consistent product quality on the manufacturing line. + Create detailed preliminary work instructions, serving as foundational documentation for efficient and standardized assembly procedures, enabling early training and process refinement. + Develop a robust labor model and optimize material flow, carefully planning resource allocation and logistical pathways to maximize production efficiency and minimize waste. + Design and implement efficient factory layouts, strategically arranging workstations and equipment to facilitate smooth operational flow and support scaling production demands. + Engineer and refine the packing process, ensuring product safety during transit, optimizing packaging for cost-effectiveness, and preparing for high-volume shipping requirements. + Responsible for understanding and implementing the customers technical roadmap and related process development projects. + Lead and implement the development and release of the full manufacturing process for new customer products. + Understand and provide feedback on customers technical requirements to team members and management + Responsible for developing and implementing costed and optimized feedback using Design for manufacturability (DFX) tools and processes, with the goal of reducing manufacturing cost and improving quality and reliability of product. + Develop, plan and lead the assessment of the capability of process applications using Design of Experiments. + Devise process controls and data collection strategies and evaluate complex data to assist with reporting yield, reliability and diagnoses to root causes failures impacting product quality. + Ensure accurate and timely communication to management on critical technical and business issues. **Knowledge/Skills/Competencies** + Highly proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). + Possesses a foundational understanding of mechanical engineering principles, with a strong interest in electronics manufacturing. + Eager to learn and actively support the development, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes. + Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills, capable of assisting with root cause analysis and process troubleshooting. + Collaborates effectively in cross-functional teams and communicates technical information with clarity. + Detail-oriented and organized, committed to adhering to engineering standards and quality practices **Physical Demands** + Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment. + Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. + Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required. + Occasional travel may be required. **Typical Experience** + 6 to 8 years in a similar role or industry. **Typical Education** Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience Master degree desired Educational Requirements may vary by Geography **Notes** This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities of the position.
