Amazon Books is seeking an Associate Instock Manager (Books Supply Chain Consultant) to join our team. Based on our belief that reading is essential for a healthy society, Amazon's Books organization is committed to helping readers read more books and derive greater value from their reading experience. To fulfill this mission, we are looking for a dedicated professional who will work with multiple publishers to drive improvements in the physical books supply chain. As widely reported, while books are fundamental to supporting a rich and cultured society, the industry's business and logistics models have not kept pace with modern innovations, resulting in increased out-of-stock rate (when customers cannot find desired books) and returns (causing significant cost burden). This role is a consulting position where you will work closely with assigned publishers (typically 2-3 publishers per person) to solve supply chain-related challenges.
Key job responsibilities
書籍事業部の在庫・物流担当チーム (Instock management team)は、書籍事業部における在庫・物流戦略全般に責任を持ち、機会損失最小化、在庫効率の最適化、オペレーション改善、高度な購買/注文エコシステムの構築・管理・最適化といった重要な役割を果たすことで、カスタマーの読書体験と、売上・利益・キャッシュフローに貢献します。 このポジションは、書籍事業部の在庫・物流担当チームに所属しています。特に影響力が大きな出版社に伴走して在庫の改善やサプライチェーンの効率化、システム導入やオペレーションの計画・実行に責任を持ち、担当業務を通じてカスタマーに対する最高クラスの読書体験の提供と、売上・利益・キャッシュフローの最大化を達成します。それらの達成にあたり、担当出版社はもちろんのこと、書籍事業部内外のステークホルダーやアマゾン内のグローバルな関連チームと密接に協力するコミュニケーション力、そして、データ分析、自動化、カイゼンを進める分析力・実行力が求められます。

Instock Management team in the Books organization is responsible for overall inventory and logistics strategy, contributing to customer reading experience and business performance (sales, profit, and cash flow) through minimizing lost sales opportunities, optimizing inventory efficiency, improving operations, and building/managing/optimizing sophisticated purchasing/ordering ecosystems. As a Books Supply Chain advisor within the Instock Management team, you will partner with high-impact publishers to improve inventory management, enhance supply chain efficiency, and plan/execute system implementations and operational improvements. Through these responsibilities, you will help deliver best-in-class reading experiences to customers while maximizing sales, profit, and cash flow. Success in this role requires strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with assigned publishers, stakeholders both within and outside the Books organization, and Amazon's global teams, as well as strong analytical and execution capabilities to drive data analysis, automation, and continuous improvement (Kaizen).
*Project examples: Root cause analysis and countermeasures for new release out-of-stock, EDI implementation for inventory management, Order processing optimization, Long-tail title discovery and reprint coordination
